De-Worming Day at DAMITS Campus

Venue: DAMITS Campus, Rourkela

As part of its ongoing commitment to health and wellness, Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Medical Science (DAMITS) organized a De-Worming Day on campus. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of deworming, particularly among students, and to provide free deworming treatment to ensure that everyone on campus remains healthy and free from parasitic infections.

Program Highlights

  1. Participation:

    • The event saw over 400 participants, including 350 students, 30 faculty members, and 20 staff members from the DAMITS campus who were provided with deworming medication.
  2. Health Checkups:

    • In addition to the deworming treatment, free health checkups were offered to participants, focusing on overall well-being and preventive care.
  3. Collaboration and Support:

    • The camp was organized in collaboration with local healthcare providers and supported by 30 student volunteers from DAMITS, who assisted with registration, administering medications, and ensuring smooth event operations.
  4. Awareness Session:

    • Along with the medication distribution, an informative session was held to educate participants about the causes and symptoms of worm infections, the importance of regular deworming, and maintaining hygiene practices to prevent parasitic infections.

Impact of the Event

  • Improved Health Awareness:

    • The De-Worming Day helped raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a healthy gut and the need for regular deworming, especially in a high-risk environment like a college campus.
  • Promoting Preventive Health:

    • Providing free deworming treatment directly to students and staff ensured that they were protected from the adverse effects of intestinal worms, contributing to their overall health and well-being.
  • Encouraging Hygiene Practices:

    • The awareness session highlighted the significance of proper hygiene practices, such as handwashing and avoiding contaminated food and water, which play a critical role in preventing worm infestations.
