Art of Giving Day Donation Drive

Venue: DAMITS Campus, Rourkela

On the occasion of Art of Giving Day, Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Institute of Technology and Science (DAMITS) organized a donation drive to spread the message of kindness and generosity. The initiative aimed to help underprivileged families and inspire students and faculty to embrace the joy of giving.


Program Highlights

  1. Participation:

    • Over 150 donors from the DAMITS community, including 90 students, 30 faculty members, and 30 local residents, contributed to the drive.
  2. Donations Collected:

    • Clothing: More than 200 items of clothing, including warm clothes and daily wear, were collected and distributed.
    • Food Items: Over 150 food packets containing rice, lentils, biscuits, and other essentials were donated to families in need.
    • Books and Stationery: Students contributed 50 books and 25 sets of stationery to encourage education among children in nearby communities.
  3. Distribution Efforts:

    • The donations were distributed to 50 families in Gopal Tungur Toli Basti and other nearby areas, ensuring that the aid reached those who needed it the most.
    • A team of 20 student volunteers personally delivered the donations, interacting with the beneficiaries and understanding their needs.

Impact of the Event

The donation drive created a meaningful impact by:

    • Essential items like clothes, food, and study materials were provided to underprivileged families, improving their quality of life.

  • Set up a permanent donation box on campus to collect items year-round.
  • Partner with local NGOs to ensure efficient distribution and greater reach of such initiatives.
