International Yoga Day Celebration

The serene grounds of Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Institute of Technology and Science (DAMITS) came alive on 21st June 2019 as students, faculty, and community members gathered to celebrate International Yoga Day. The event, aimed at promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, highlighted the significance of yoga as a timeless practice for holistic health.
Program Highlights
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation and a variety of engaging activities that emphasized the importance of integrating yoga into daily life.
Participation Numbers:
- A total of 180 participants joined the event, including 120 students, 30 faculty members, and 30 community members.
Yoga Session:
- Morning Yoga Session: Led by Yoga Guru Sunita Sharma, a certified yoga instructor, the session focused on fundamental asanas, pranayama techniques, and meditation.
- Participants learned about the benefits of poses like Tadasana, Vrikshasana, and Bhujangasana for physical health and stress relief.
Interactive Talk:
- A motivational talk on “Yoga for Mental Health and Productivity” was delivered by Dr. R.K. Jena, a renowned wellness coach. He elaborated on the scientific and spiritual dimensions of yoga.
Group Demonstration:
- A group yoga performance by 50 students showcased advanced asanas like Surya Namaskar and Dhanurasana, inspiring others to embrace yoga.
Fun Activities:
- Yoga Quiz: A lively quiz session saw participation from 25 students, testing their knowledge about the origins and benefits of yoga.
- Creative Corner: A poster-making competition on the theme “Yoga: A Path to Harmony” involved 20 students displaying their artistic talents.
