Adult Literacy Programme for Empowering Lives Through Education
Venue: Bisra, Odisha
Education is a fundamental right and a powerful tool for transformation. In line with our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), we initiated the Adult Literacy Programme in Bisra, Odisha, to bring light into the lives of those who were previously deprived of the gift of literacy.
Why Adult Literacy?
Despite significant advancements in education, a considerable portion of the adult population in rural areas like Bisra continues to struggle with illiteracy. This challenge limits their ability to access opportunities, make informed decisions, and actively participate in society. Our programme aims to bridge this gap and empower individuals through the basic skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Impact at a Glance
The programme kicked off with enthusiastic participation from the local community. Here's a snapshot of the progress so far:
- Participants Enrolled: 120 adults, predominantly women, have joined the initiative.
- Age Group: Ranging from 25 to 50 years.
- Focus Areas:
- Literacy: Reading and writing skills.
- Numeracy: Basic arithmetic for daily activities like budgeting.
- Awareness: Educating participants about healthcare, hygiene, and financial literacy.
- Duration: The programme runs for six months, with regular evening classes to suit participants' schedules.
Our Vision for the Future
We believe that literacy is the first step toward holistic development. Our goal is to extend this initiative to more villages in the Bisra region, aiming to educate at least 500 adults in the next two years.
